Letter from the Fall Flyer, August, 2004.
Dear Friends,
On June 17th 2004, our dear beloved teacher, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan passed into the realms of light. This passing has affected the hearts of his Mureeds very deeply. We feel the gratitude of having had the opportunity of meditating, studying, and being guided by such a great teacher. Pir led us on so many adventures, inner and outer, which left their marks on our hearts and souls. What an example he has been to us all. I remember him saying that you can be an older person and still give others energy. Aqil, Azimat and I had the great blessing of being at one of his last teachings, the leader's meeting in Suresnes, France in January. I remember being struck by how he seemed to look more youthful as the weekend went by and feeling the insight, inspiration, and spiritual power flowing through him despite the physical limitations. This is a wonderful time to share Pir Vilayat stories. I hope you have the opportunity to do so. Perhaps you still feel Pir's presence. We can hold him gently with gratitude in our hearts and continue to receive his blessings. May this be a time of rededication to assimilate and express the teachings that have been so graciously given to us. I have had the good fortune of working with Pir Zia as a faculty member of the Suluk Academy. The teachings are being transmitted so beautifully within that container. Pir Zia generates true commitment to this work. I can truly say our Order is in good hands. "What the teacher can do is kindle the light which is hidden in the heart of the student." Hazrat Inayat Khan
Please join us this Fall and rekindle your light.
In dedication,
Khabira Brown
