Letter from the Fall Flyer, August 2006.
Greetings friends of the heart!
Suluk Academy was founded in 2002 by Pir Zia Inayat-Khan, the spiritual leader of the Sufi Order International (SOI).
Suluk offers a course of focused spiritual study which supports the natural unfoldment of the soul in life.
This summer the Suluk format was introduced at our SOI leaders camp and received with much enthusiasm.
One of the topics was how could we bring this format to our centers.
The format is based on three parts: the teachings, the mentor group and the pods. The teachings are offered by an
experienced teacher on a specific topic with meditation. The mentor group, facilitated by an experienced teacher,
is where teachings are shared, clarified, and spiritual discourse occurs to prepare the ground for deeper understanding.
The pod is a leaderless group of companions who over time develop a depth of spiritual friendship. The teachings are
explored in terms of our everyday life and how to embody our ideals.
In the spirit of this effort we will be offering classes in Sharon
this year (see the class listing for Gathering
of Friends) which simulates the Suluk template. We will be combining
the teachings and mentor group into classes, to be followed by pods.
Because of the sensitive nature of the pods we are asking that people
make a commitment to attending as many times as possible. In addition
we will be establishing pods before the first meeting, so if you
wish to be a part of a pod, please contact me by Sept. 24th.
Those of us who have participated in Suluk have found that a deep transformation occurs, our lives are enriched,
and our spiritual path is supported. Come join us for this new adventure!
Love, Khabira
